Education Team History
WCBOO’s education team has been providing top notch professional development and education platforms to women’s collegiate officiating professionals for several years. Coming from different walks of life and having different officiating experience, our team serves as instructors and court clinicians at our In Position Officials Camp as well as in person and virtual teachers. The WCBOO team provides a personal touch to every official they encounter. Respect and synergy is important and ever present.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, In Position was one of the first camps to pivot and become a free virtual educational camp. In just one week, the education team came together and put together a camp attended by over 250 officials.
During the summer the education team held the first ever “Summer Education Series” which then led to the “In House Season Series.” Our guest speakers include Jon Levinson, Debbie Williamson, Penny Davis, Patty Broderick, Joe Vaszily, Stephanie Barksdale, Mary Toberman, Donnie Eppley, and others.
WCBOO formed in the fall of 2020 with the help and assistance of Donnie Eppley and Felix Addeo of IAABO as well as with the guidance of Tom O’Connor from CBOA. WCBOO is a chartered board of IAABO and an affiliate of CBOA. WCBOO, known as Board 801, quickly became a leader in educating and training women’s collegiate basketball officials. Board 801 members get quality training and educational materials from IAABO and liability insurance for all levels of collegiate basketball from CBOA. This is a new and unique opportunity available to anyone who officiates women’s collegiate basketball. Members of other IAABO local boards are encouraged to join WCBOO as a secondary membership to add women’s collegiate officiating to their resume.
